We had a great afternoon and I got a lovely ornament.

It's IHSW This Weekend

It's a Hermit and Stitch Weekend! Pop over to Joyce's blog and check it out.

I'll be at my stitching retreat in New Brunswick, so I'll be hermitting with about 15 other stitchers. Can't wait - it's going to be such fun.

And here's a few more pictures from my trip.

Jasper Park (Alberta) and the Athabasca River.

Northern prairie outside of Saskatoon (Saskatchewan).

Start of fall colours north of Lake Superior.

Toronto skyline from my friend's balcony.

And some pictures of my roomette on ViaRail.

Catching Up

Well, I'm sitting in Jasper, Alberta and I have to check out in about 1/2 hour so I thought I better do a post while I have an internet connection. I'm on the train from this afternoon until Saturday morning when I arrive in Toronto.

This is the Skeena River valley just east of Terrace - a major river in Northern BC.

Further east - Bulkley area. I was trying to catch the start of the fall colours, but they didn't turn out quite as planned. The train just wouldn't slow down for some reason! LOL

It was a beautiful sunny day until we hit Jasper Park, then it clouded over and we weren't able to see the tops of the mountains.

When I got to my hotel in Jasper there was a mix up with my reservation and I ended up being upgraded to a suite rather than a standard room. I've felt very spoiled!

I'm loving the train travel - so far I've met people from Australia, The Netherlands and England. All the chit chat back and forth really makes the time fly and I love hearing their reactions to Canada.

And I've been able to get in some stitching. Here is where the stocking has gotten to.

Will try and post again the next time I have an internet connection.

17 Hours To Go

Took the cats to their holiday resort this morning - they will get totally spoiled by Nancy and Gunther which makes me feel much better about leaving them.

Bag is pretty well packed except for the last minute things in the morning.

Snacks are bagged - the ViaRail service car does not have a diabetes friendly menu, so I'm bringing my own. As long as I can buy water and tea I'm covered.

The final challenge will be getting everything in my backpack that has to be there.

Yoda was determined that he was not going to be left behind this time.

It didn't work, but it was cute to see.

The Last Blossoms

I think my garden is winding down - for sure these will be the last flowers I see as I leave on Sunday, but it is a lovely finish to the season.

Back to laundry, packing lists, and other miscellaneous prep. I love vacations, but getting ready to go can wear you out!

Labour Day

For those of you who celebrate Labour Day, I hope you're having a great long weekend. It's a typical fall day here - raining and blowing! Hopefully will be a stitching day - haven't managed any for the last 3 or 4 days.

Getting ready for my holiday - to do lists are getting longer and my packing list is ridiculous. After the medical paraphernalia and stuff for the stitching retreat, I have no idea how I'm going to fit in clothes!

And while I'm away my landlord is going to redo my main entrance, so I may come back to a whole new look. And I'll have a new stove!

Hopefully an update picture on the stocking later today.
